Horse Riding Arena Rules
General Arena Use
- Close All Gates – Always shut and latch gates after entering or leaving the arena.
- Clean Up Your Garbage – Remove all of your garbage and dispose of it in the trash cans.
- Remove Equipment – Put away barrels, poles, or other training equipment after use.
- No Loose Horses – Horses must be under control at all times; no free lunging or turnout unless permitted.
- Limit Lunging Time – Be mindful of others and limit lunging to designated areas or times if the arena is busy.
- Respect Right of Way – Faster riders pass on the inside track, slower riders stay on the rail. Call out your intentions when passing.
- No Smoking or Alcohol – Smoking and alcohol consumption are strictly prohibited in and around the arena.
- No Overnight Use – No overnight use of the arena or associated livestock pens except for permitted by the City of Paris.
- No Trailer Cleanout – Do not clean out your horse trailer at the fairgrounds.
- No Motorized Vehicles – No motorized vehicle use in the arena except for permitted by the City of Paris.
- Paris City Not Liable – Paris City is NOT liable for personal injury or personal property damage, including stock injuries, while using the arena or associated stock pens.
- Event Permitting and Insurance – Organizers of public and private events must be permitted by the City of Paris and provide appropriate proof of liability insurance.
Arena Scheduling & Reservations
- Reservations Take Precedence – If the arena is reserved online, that time is exclusive, and all other activities must yield.
- Open Use When Not Reserved – If no reservations are scheduled, the arena is available for use by the public.
- Check the Schedule – Riders must verify availability before riding.
- Respect Reserved Time Slots – Do not enter or interfere with the arena during a reserved session unless given permission.
Safety & Courtesy
- Helmets Recommended – Riders under 18 should wear a helmet.
- Be Aware of Others – Yield to riders in motion and announce your entrance to avoid startling horses.
- Dogs Must Be Leashed – No loose dogs in or around the arena.
- No Roughhousing – No running, loud noises, or reckless behavior that could spook horses.
- Report Damage – If you notice broken fences, footing issues, or damaged equipment, report it immediately.
Cleanliness & Maintenance
- Pick Up Trash – Dispose of garbage in designated bins.
- Put Away Tack & Supplies – Store personal items and arena tools after use.
